The area’s 2020 annual “Point-In-Time” count identified more than 11,000 people experiencing homelessness in King County, and more than 200 in the Shoreline area who were unsheltered.
The City of Shoreline, in partnership with King County and Catholic Housing Services, began a permanent supportive housing development for people who are homeless. Some of this group are also dealing with chronic mental illness. Two healthcare groups behind the project went through a merger during the process, creating delays that added even more urgency—making modular time savings even more beneficial for the project’s timely completion.
Catholic Housing Services (CHS) will develop and manage the property, as well as coordinate the wraparound support services for residents. CHS has a proven track record of owning and operating supportive housing programs, such as the one proposed for this location. Supportive housing provides not only housing, but also connects individuals receiving housing to support services to improve long-term success in moving out of homelessness. Projects like these are especially gratifying. Between the reduced preconstruction time Prefab Logic achieves, and the time-to-completion advantage of modular construction, this project can help get homeless area residents on a better path more quickly.
