Enlightenment Plaza is a visionary project designed to create a rich and supportive place for formerly homeless individuals to call home, while employing efficient modular building technology to help control costs and decrease delivery time.
The project transforms a former parking lot into housing and open space for residents, and create a synergy with the housing and services provided by nearby PATH Metro Villas.
The building surrounds the 27,000 SF open park and paseo spaces, and the campus includes 5,700 SF of resident supportive counseling space, 13,600 SF of common amenity area.
The large central park provides a verdant space to promote health and wellness for residents.
A great example of green building practices, Enlightenment Plaza meets 2020 Cal Green sustainability goals and rigorous energy modeling sets it on track for LEED Certification. Energy-saving features include a water-conserving design, extensive solar panels, all-electric living, and LED lighting fixtures with occupancy sensors.
Modular construction was chosen in part for how it reduces construction waste and avoids many impacts on the surrounding area that would have been unavoidable with conventional onsite construction.
